Design the kitchen of this 45 square meter apartment. Located between the bedroom/bathroom area and living area, the kitchen is the real hub of the apartment. What would have been a hallway is used efficiently as a functional room, ideal for cooking beautiful meals!
Date: December 2011 to June 2013
Place : Haute-Savoie, France
This Kitchen has been designed on a tight budget using IKEA furniture.
We chose a combination of wood and white cream cabinets. We added a third texture: brushed steel for the splash back, counter top side, handles. It reflects the color of the floor tile as concrete grey.
Altogether, the mix of 3 main colors (creamy white, light grey and wood) create an harmonious ambiance, natural but modern, and very functional!
Entry from the living area to the kitchen
IKEA Kitchen: a cleaning side and a cooking side. Did you notice the little light window?
Very handy to write recipes or notes not to forget : a chalk board on the wall. It is actually chalk board paint directly painted on the wall.
First draft of the kitchen on the “cleaning” side.
We created the kitchen plans in 3D to make sure everything fits in the room.
The Cleaning side: The cabinet below contains a dishwasher, recycling bins, laundry machine, fridge and freezer.
To let the natural light comes into the kitchen, we installed some glasses above the sink. Those glasses are just in front of the bathroom window on the other side.
A curtain adds some warms in the kitchen for this angled cupboard.

The Cooking side: The induction hob with electric oven below and air hood above. The microwave is hidden in the taller cupboard. The rest of the cabinetry is made of large drawers, ideal to store pans and food.
